Super WHY

Super WHY is the first pre-school property created to teach kids the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures!

The award winning animated series comes from New York-based production company Out of the Blue Enterprises and is a ratings hit on Nick Jr in the UK.

The show features a team of superhero friends with literacy-based powers, who jump into books for answers to everyday pre-school problems and questions - the home viewer is the superhero sidekick, who is encouraged to participate in the fun and learning.

The programme focuses on the learning escapades of ever curious and resourceful 6-year-old Whyatt Beanstalk (Jack’s younger brother), Red of “Little Red Riding Hood” fame, Pig from “The Three Little Pigs” and Princess Pea, daughter of the star from the classic “The Princess and The Pea.”

When a problem arises, Whyatt calls his friends to the Book Club, where they transform into superheroes with reading powers: Alpha Pig with Alphabet Power, Wonder Red with Word Power, Princess Presto with Spelling Power, Super WHY with the Power to Read and Super YOU with the Power to Help. Then they hop into their Why Flyers and go on a fun-filled reading adventure to find the answer to the problem and save the day!

Along the way they play interactive literacy games that encourage the home viewer to practice letter identification, rhyming, spelling, reading comprehension, and more!

Building on the huge successes which have seen the show become a massive hit on merchandise across America, Bulldog has put in place an A-list licensing programme for the UK market.

Product launches across the UK in Spring 2010 with RC2 as master toy licensee (hovering Why Flyer pictured), Character World on bedding and both Pedigree and Little Star Creations developing publishing lines.
