ABOUT BULLDOG
Bulldog is a young, dynamic licensing agency based in Chislehurst, Kent, half an hour from Central London. Formed in February 2007, Bulldog has grown quickly to become one of the leading UK licensing companies, representing market-leading brands and instantly recognisable names ranging from the UK’s biggest selling toy collectable brand, Gogo’s Crazy Bones, to high profile design-led brand Goochicoo. We represent the rights to some of the most well-known classic brand names in the licensing world such as Roobarb & Custard and Roland Rat. We operate in all of the world’s key licensing markets and were recently nominated in the worldwide Kidscreen Licensing Agency of the Year awards, as well as gaining a nomination in LIMA’s global awards for Best Character/Toy Brand Licensing Programme.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for an ambitious, motivated self-starter, happy to work on basic tasks but capable of and willing to get involved in client meetings and more complex licensing strategy. The ideal person will be educated to degree level and will want to work alongside the Managing Director to help grow the business whilst gaining valuable transferrable skills and contacts with licensing people, manufacturers and retailers at the highest level. Our basic requirements include basic office skills (telephone answering, etc), strong communication skills, basic IT (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Experience of licensing is not necessary, but an interest in entertainment media, brands and fashion would be a benefit. Additional skills which would be of benefit would include foreign language skills, design skills and more advanced IT skills but these are not requirements.
THE JOB ROLE
Bulldog carries a deliberately small staff which helps us to remain dynamic and able to react quickly to the changing demands of the market. All members of the team are required to help out with the most basic of tasks from envelope stuffing to telephone answering but are also involved in dealing with clients at the most senior levels. This role provides a superb opportunity for an ambitious person looking to develop and learn information right across the licensing industry quickly. A successful candidate will:
• Work well within a small team and be willing to do a wide range of office tasks
• Have strong verbal and written communications skills
• Be willing to attend meetings with clients at every level of seniority from Licensing Directors to Managing Directors and retail buyers
• Be able to travel to meetings and trade shows throughout the UK and to act as the initial point of contact for all ‘walk-on’ clients at the Bulldog stand at Brand Licensing Europe
Working alongside the Managing Director, the successful applicant can also expect to develop the following transferable skills: sales and negotiation, presentation skills, presentation writing, brand development and strategy as well as building an enviable contacts list of key influencers throughout the licensing world.
